we met
in the middle of everything
heavy and light,
no titles
no rules~no name
you loved me
harder than I expected
and I
loved you back
the best I could
now
we are friends
holding what’s left
of something
that never needed a name
I wrote this poem to capture the quiet complexity of love that exists without the need for labels, where the connection speaks louder than the titles we assign it. It stems from the moment my world shifted the moment I learned that my husband, after over 20 years of marriage had been unfaithful, decades earlier but confessed all of it to me in 2022. That same year, I found myself volunteering at an Ayahuasca retreat, a place meant for healing, and perhaps the universe had more in mind for me than I could ever have planned.
